Garden Of My Soul
I planted flowers in the garden of my soul. The plants were delightful; each blossom seemed sweet. The petals were smiling as if people were greeting. It hardly seemed possible; in spite of the heat, each plant kept smiling with no sign of defeat. I love my soul's garden. It will ever bloom; nothing can harm me in my sacred room.

Leaving Escondido Church
I had never been referred to as “Rev. Dude” until 1999.
That was the year I announced I was leaving the Escondido church after serving there for six and a half years. In January of 1999, when I made that announcement, the bookstore manager angrily handed me the bookstore keys during the service and said, “If you are leaving in April, I am leaving today.”
